The City of Murcia celebrates Environment Day with two weeks of activities and workshops with a mobile point (29/05/2018)

The City of Murcia celebrates World Environment Day with two weeks of programming activities to promote awareness and citizen participation in the conservation and continuous improvement of the municipality's environment.

Antonio Navarro, councilor for Urbanism, Environment, Water and Garden, has reported that "in this edition of 2018 the theme chosen by the United Nations for World Environment Day, which is commemorated on June 5, is' No contamination by plastics', showing what changes we can make in our daily lives to reduce the burden of plastic pollution for nature, wildlife and our health, so these activities will be focused on this. "

Joining this global celebration, the Department of Urbanism, Environment and Huerta will have between today and Friday June 8, a mobile point that will travel through different areas of Murcia, mainly squares and streets with commercial influx, to bring the citizens the message of the campaign.

The places that will visit the informants of the council in this campaign are:

• Tuesday 29: Plaza Europa (morning), Plaza Las Flores and Santa Isabel (afternoon).

• Wednesday 30: San Andrés Market Square (morning) and San Bartolomé Square (afternoon).

• Thursday 31: Plaza Mercado La Fama (morning), Avda Libertad (afternoon)

• Friday 1: Mercadillo de Espinardo (morning), Jardín de la Pólvora (afternoon).

• Monday 4: Bacons Bridge Market (morning), Calle Almudena (afternoon).

• Tuesday 5: Plaza de Santo Domingo (morning and afternoon).

• Wednesday 6: Veronicas Market / Manterola walkway (morning);

Piazza del Romea (afternoon).

• Thursday 7: Mercado de El Carmen (tomorrow);

Artillery Barracks (afternoon).

• Friday 8: Mercado de Vistabella (morning);

University Square (afternoon).

Also part of this campaign is a storyteller that will take place on Tuesday, June 5, World Environment Day, in Santo Domingo Square at 6:30 p.m.

There will also be two environmental workshops in which families can become aware of pollution by plastics through recycling games.

The workshops will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will take place on Friday, June 1 at the La Pólvora Garden and on Thursday, June 7 at the Floridablanca Garden.

On the other hand, Antonio Navarro has declared that "next Tuesday we will also carry out the traditional award ceremony at the City Hall to the students who have participated in this drawing and writing contest".
