The municipal nursery of El Mayayo will produce 120,000 plants of different species before the end of the year (26/05/2018)

The Councilor for Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén, visited this week the municipal nursery of El Mayayo that has been put back into production to serve the municipal gardens with flower of production or own production in collaboration with disabled intellectuals of the association CEOM (Association for the integration of people with intellectual disabilities).

The facilities have a greenhouse area of ​​2,000 square meters and own staff who devote part of their day to the production of flower plant.

In addition, 10 people from CEOM collaborate, working from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon, as well as people from the work agreement in favor of the community who are employed from 10 am to 1 pm from Monday to Thursday.

The current production is 38,000 geraniums.

It is also starting to produce ivy, which means that 20,000 units will be obtained during the rest of the year.

Thus, before closing 2018 will be achieved a production of 120,000 plants of different species that will be planted in the gardens of the municipality.

In these works has collaborated so much personnel of the company concessionaire STV Management as of the Association CEOM.

Between the complementary tasks to the plantation, has carried out the reform of the plastic structure of the facilities, a new system of irrigation, as well as the electrical installation.

The return to the traditions that have marked an era, which have been an essential part of Murcia is one of the objectives of the work that, in a first phase, has been carried out by the City of Murcia, the STV concessionaire and the Association CEOM.

"What is being done is to return the original state to a facility with the placement of a new plastic structure both in the dome and in the nursery floor itself, while a new drip irrigation system has been implemented and an electrical installation adapted to the regulations ", explains the mayor of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, José Guillén.

All this new flower material, once it is fully developed, will be used to beautify the flowerbeds and planters of the city.

In this way, the municipality of Murcia continues its work of constant improvement of the different spaces and green areas, while promoting the values ​​of integration and socialization of the different social groups.
