The XXX Spanish Film Week of Mula and the XXV National Short Film Competition are presented at the UMU Rectorate (24/05/2018)

The University of Murcia has hosted this Thursday the presentation of the XXX Spanish Film Week of Mula and the XXV National Short Film Contest, which will take place from May 27 to June 2, in a festive edition for the long journey of the Cine-Club Segundo de Chomón in its commitment to Spanish cinema.

For a week, the festival hosts different film screenings, contests and tributes through which Spanish cinema will be brought to the whole Muleña society and visitors.

The film festival will pay a special tribute this year to actor Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, an outstanding actor with more than a hundred films and a long career in theater and television.

Gutiérrez Caba will visit Mula to mark the closing of the Spanish Film Week next Saturday, June 2.

The Lope de Vega Theater will be the main stage of the week.

In it, the short films participating in the competition will be screened daily, starting at 8 pm, followed by a current film at a popular price of € 2.

On Friday, the actress Lucia Alvarez, will celebrate for the third year in Mula the project 'Secrets of the cinema' in which Alvarez will spend all the morning transmitting his love for the cinema to the students of the locality through a talk-colloquium that does not Stop surprising in each edition.

As an appetizer, this Thursday, May 24, the pre-release of the film 'Boss' will take place at 20:00 in the Centrofama cinemas in Murcia.

Sergio Barrejón's film, played by Luis Callejo, Juana Costa and Carlo D'Ursi, will hit theaters on July 6.

The press conference for the presentation of the Mula Spanish Film Week was attended by the vice-rector of Communication, Culture and Quality, Francisco Javier Martínez Méndez;

Marta López Briones, general director of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts;

the mayor of Mula, Juan Jesús Moreno;

Councilor for Culture, Aira Blaya;

the director of the Week, Martín del Toro;

and Juan Alávarez, author of the poster announcer.

All those present at the event have emphasized the effort and work that for thirty years has been dedicated in Mula to support and disseminate Spanish cinema.

Short film contest

The National Short Film Competition has had in this edition a large number of participants from all over the country.

Of the nearly 300 short films presented, nine of them have been finalists, whose winner will be given a contest at the gala on June 2.

The short film festival establishes the following prizes for this contest: Jury Prize valued at 2,000 euros and trophy, Audience Prize with 1,000 euros and trophy, Animation Award with 500 euros and trophy, Young Prize with 500 euros and trophy, Prize Equality with 500 euros and trophy and Awards for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Cinematography, all of them with a trophy.

I work with school children

In its work of dissemination of Spanish cinema, the Cine-Club Segundo de Chomón, aims to reach all sections of the population with films aimed at the adult, young and children, for which morning screenings and various activities are organized. those that involve all the educational centers of the locality.

The author of the poster illustrator of the XXX Spanish Film Week of Mula is the work of the artist Juan Álvarez, in which the artist wanted to go back to the beginnings of Spanish cinema with a poster illustrated in black and white and in which they include details of the municipality of Mula.

In addition, in this edition, coinciding with the anniversary of the Film Week, the Cine-Club has wanted to gather in a single space much of the history of this great event through an exhibition that will remain until mid-June in the Convent of San Francisco de Mula.
