The UMU participates in the I Days of Greco-Latin Culture of Cartagena (24/05/2018)

On the occasion of the celebration of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, Cartagena hosts on 25 and 26 May the First Conference of Carthago ReNova Greco-Roman Culture.

Few Spanish cities can boast a classic past more important than Cartagena.

This initiative will contribute to placing the city in its place for the wealth it deserves due to the richness of its heritage, and to make visible the classical studies and the importance of Latin and Greek as very necessary subjects in Secondary education.

Dozens of Greek and Latin teachers and lovers of the classical world will take part in its activities, which include lectures, guided tours to exhibitions, outdoor activities and workshops.

Visitors and citizens, in general, will also be able to enjoy the program of events for free.

Among the speakers will be visiting front-line personalities such as the writer, filmmaker and Hellenist Pedro Olalla, or the writers Isabel Barceló and Mario Agudo Villanueva.

The conferences, organized by the Center for Teachers and Resources of the Region of Murcia, the Spanish Society of Classical Studies and AMUPROLAG, have had the collaboration of the University of Murcia, the City of Cartagena and the Foundation of the Roman Theater of Cartagena.
