The Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain has invested 52,000 euros in the drafting of the Master Plan
Bernabé has underlined the importance that the Government of Spain gives to the recovery of the Historical Heritage of the Region of Murcia
The government delegate, Francisco Bernabé, the general director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Luis Lafuente, along with the general director of Cultural Property of the Region of Murcia, Juan Antonio Lorca and the mayor of Murcia, José Francisco Ballesta have presented today the Master Plan of Monteagudo Castle.
Taking into account the cultural significance of this fortress of Islamic origin declared of Cultural Interest, the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain (IPCE) carried out in 2017 the Master Plan presented today with an investment of 52,030 euros.
The Master Plan is an essential tool to know the cultural asset, which collects all information of a historical, legal or conservation nature, among other aspects, and which guides the actions that must be undertaken to ensure its preservation and enjoyment by the public.
This document revealed that the castle presented significant problems of degradation in the walls and towers of tapial, with the risk that this implies of potential landslides.
Also, their accesses showed a serious risk of collapse due to the characteristics of the land.
The last intervention carried out in the defensive complex approached precisely the adaptation of these accesses, installing security elements, but a large part of them have been destroyed or dispossessed.
Upcoming performances at the Castle The next intervention, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport through the IPCE, will focus on the adaptation of the accesses and the consolidation and restoration of the area of ​​greatest risk: the south front of the castle .
The objective of this intervention -in which it is foreseen to invest 1,079,925 euros in construction work and 103,092 in drafting and project management schedules- is to guarantee the structural stability of the southern sector, proceeding to the consolidation and restoration of the factories of mud and stone.
At first, the conditioning of new accesses and the improvement of existing ones will be carried out.
Next, the materials coming from landslides will be dismembered and vegetation, graffiti and residues will be removed.
The structural consolidation of the area and the canvases of the south wall will be carried out, as well as the rocky front on which it sits.
It will also consider the installation of signage elements and the improvement of the walkways, stairs and access ramps to the castle.
