HUERMUR celebrates that administrations finally decide to save the Castle of Monteagudo (23/05/2018)

Huermur celebrates that the three administrations involved in the custody of this important castle of the twelfth century of the Huerta de Murcia, have decided to bet seriously for the rehabilitation of the castle and to avoid its total ruin.

The conservation organization regrets that it has had to need a myriad of complaints and even an investigation by the Ombudsman in Madrid for the poor state of this protected monument, so that the rulers have realized the serious state of this heritage of Murcia .

Huermur announces that it will be vigilant so that the Law of Cultural Patrimony is strictly complied with and that finally this castle declared BIC is saved from the total ruin that has threatened it for years.

The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and the Heritage of Murcia, HUERMUR, celebrates that finally and after countless promises and empty words, the administrations involved in safeguarding the protected castle of Monteagudo have decided to consolidate the battered walls of the monument, and in ensuring that the ruin that threatens this unique heritage of the huerta of Murcia is put to an end.

From Huermur point out that they have had to be many years of persistence, an infinity of complaints and even an investigation by the Ombudsman for the poor state of this castle BIC, but finally it seems that the responsible administrations and their leaders have understood that can thus have this important heritage of all Murcia and the huerta of Murcia.

In the same sense, they hope that the Government of Spain, the Ministry of Culture and the City of Murcia do not turn this new ad into a paper and a mere photo of protocol so that it seems that something is done in the face of the elections, that Huermur firmly hopes that it will not happen as with all the promises to recover Monteagudo in the last two decades that fell into deeper oblivion.

Finally, from Huermur they announce that they will closely follow the recovery process of the XII century fortress, and that they will be vigilant so that the cultural heritage legislation is scrupulously complied with.

All this so that the administrations and those who direct them do not forget their obligations to the historical set of the Castle of Monteagudo, which supposes a unique historical and cultural heritage in the huerta of Murcia and in the Spanish Levante, and from which the Murcians should feel proud and watch to be adequately protected.
