A few days of the University of Murcia reflect on the perspective of gender in literature (22/05/2018)

The University of Murcia has organized together with the Spanish Network of Philosophy and the research group 'Writers and writings' the First International Conference 'From Gender Equality / Absences: reflections in the street', which will take place from 23 to 25 March May in the lecture hall of the Campus de la Merced.

The opening of the conference will take place this Wednesday, May 23, in classroom 1.5 of the aulario de la Merced, at 4:00 p.m.

The event will be chaired by José Luján Alcaraz, rector of the UMU;

and will be attended by Pascual Cantos Gómez, dean of the Faculty of Arts;

and Leonor Sáez Méndez, director of the conference and professor of the Translation and Interpretation department.

Throughout the different sessions, a comparative study of German, Spanish, English and Italian literature will be carried out from a gender perspective.

On the other hand, the perspective of gender and the absence of writers in the literary canons means that these deficiencies are necessarily reflected from other disciplines that go beyond the study of philology and literature;

hence its interdisciplinary nature.
