The Smart City Charger, which is part of the SUSTAINABLE UCAM project and is located on the Los Jerónimos Campus, offers a free service to students with which they can charge their mobile phones and tablets, as well as access information of university interest through of a touch screen integrated in the equipment.

The company Suez Advanced Solutions, responsible for carrying out the energy efficiency program implemented by the University, within the UCAM SUSTAINABLE project, has installed a Smart City Charger, which provides a free service for charging mobile devices, as well as information on university interest, through a touch screen.

The head of Business Development for the Energy Division of Suez Advanced Solutions, Antonio Cortés ensures that it is a technology designed to operate in a self-sufficient way in terms of energy, and in its different models it can be powered by both solar photovoltaic energy and with hydraulic energy, available in drinking water networks.

"This is the first charger that we installed at the Catholic University and still does not have these functionalities, but it is a project that we have in the long term."

The charger, which is installed in the square of the pergolas, in the Campus of Los Jerónimos, allows to load up to nine mobile devices at the same time, with different energy inputs, at the same time that it offers useful information for the university community through its touch screen.

This is another step in the energy efficiency project that the University, through the Technological Institute of Murcia (ITM), has launched with the company Suez Advanced Solutions, with which the UCAM will convert all its facilities into an intelligent environment, reducing Co2 emissions by more than 110,000 kg per year.

The executive director of the ITM, César Nicolás says that "this energy efficiency project is in a phase of comprehensive energy audit, from which, the Suez company will develop a Master Plan for Energy Efficiency where all the saving measures to adopt, among which is the charger that we inaugurate today ".
