The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, and the president of the Gmp Foundation, Gloria Alemán, delivered this morning the Collection of the IX International Festival of Solidarity Magic of Murcia 'Grandes Illusions' 2018, to the association Fundown.
The event, which took place at the 7RM facilities, was attended by the president of Fundown, Diego González, the general director of 7RM, Antonio Peñarrubia, and the director of the GMP, Francisco Fernández.
It is the highest collection of the solidarity festival organized by the Gmp Foundation, in its nine years of life, a total of 53,382 euros, which will allow financing not only a Fundown project - as originally planned - but two initiatives: the 'My Life' project, to improve the quality of life and autonomy of people with Down Syndrome in Murcia and another action aimed at inclusion through new technologies.
The IX International Festival of Solidarity Magic of Murcia 'Grandes Illusions' took place last March in Murcia and brought to the city great magicians and illusionists who acted in the Romea Theater and the Circus Theater, as well as in different squares of the city.
"Illusion, devotion, affection and generosity are the four pillars on which this festival stands which allocates 100% of its proceeds to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities," said the mayor, who thanked the GMP Foundation for its " disinterested commitment with Murcian society "and" to the companies of the Region that sponsor this event, whose X edition I am sure will be memorable and will come full of surprises ".
350,000 euros to improve the lives of more than 550 families
In these nine years of life 'Great Illusions' has managed to raise more than 350,000 euros that have helped more than 550 families with a member with intellectual disabilities in the Region of Murcia, contributing to materialize projects promoted by Murcia entities New Horizon, ASSIDO , Feaps, Astrapace, Fundown, CEOM, Abamur, Asteamur and, in this latest edition, Fundown.
Fundown, which was established in 1994, is one of the most prestigious regional and national non-profit entities in attention and promotion of the personal autonomy of people with intellectual disability and / or Down syndrome.
'Grandes Illusions' has consolidated itself as the International Festival of Solidarity Magic of Murcia thanks to the efforts of Gmp, the non-profit organization that works to improve the quality of life of people with Down Syndrome, Acquired Brain Damage and other types of intellectual disability.
