Voices of Madagascar girls will sound at the University of Murcia to help in a solidarity project (15/05/2018)

The University of Murcia has collaborated with the Agua de Coco Foundation to organize a performance of the Malagasy Gospel choir, made up of girls from Madagascar.

The performance will take place this Wednesday, May 16, at 7 pm at the Paraninfo of the Campus de la Merced and will be accompanied by guitarist Javier Reverte.

Agua de Cocoes is an NGO that has been dedicated since 1994 to international cooperation and, for ten years, to raising awareness and education for development.

Its main mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life of disadvantaged people in Madagascar and Cambodia, especially women and children, through education as an engine of sustainable development.

Its degree of action is based on three fundamental axes: educational, social and environmental.

The concert tour of this choir offers girls and young people the opportunity to carry out exchange activities with schools and other choirs.

These exchanges, framed in the Namana project, reinforce the work done in Madagascar.

The girls who do the tour are not necessarily the ones who sing best, but the ones who have the best grades and the most help their families.

The objective of the foundation is to give them the best possible school and emotional education, with the aim of breaking down the cycle of early pregnancies, school dropouts and child labor exploitation in their environment.

Malagasy Gospel started its concert tour this year with the performance ofEstrella Morenteen Málaga as godmother of this edition.

In the middle of its journey and after passing through several cities, the choir will perform in Murcia before going to Granada at the end of May, with the presence of the other godmother of the tour, Diana Navarro.

On the other hand, the choir had the opportunity to close the delivery ceremony of the X Call for Social Projects, "Euros de tu Nómina" from Banco Santander, in which they awarded Agua de Coco in the category of "International Cooperation".

This prize will be dedicated to the projects of struggle against child malnutrition that the organization carries out in Madagascar since 2003.
