The Annex Building of the City of Murcia will be lit tonight, coinciding with the lighting of public lighting, after 9 pm, with the colors selected by the United Nations to commemorate the International Day of Families, which this year links the celebration with the motto "Families and inclusive societies".
The election of May 15 as a date related to the family began on September 20, 1993, when the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution in this regard.
The World Summit on Social Development in 1995 recognized the importance of the family as the basic unit of society and its key role in social development and, as such, should be strengthened, in addition to highlighting that in different cultural, political and social systems there are various forms of family, all sharing the same right to receive comprehensive protection and support.
This year, the awareness event is organized by the International Federation for Family Development (IFFD), in partnership with SOS Children's Villages International, and the collaboration of UNICEF and the Division of Social Policy and Development of the Department of Economics and Business Social (DSDS of UNDESA).
The objective is to demonstrate how families and policies can contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In this sense, in Murcia will take place tonight, at 9 pm, an event organized by the Family Forum to read a manifesto in support of the family, which will be attended by the Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz.
At 21,10 hours the special lighting will light up on the facade of the Annex Building to the Town Hall with the colors selected by the United Nations to commemorate the International Day of the Family.
