The City of Murcia and Manos Unidas promote respect, tolerance and solidarity through reading in schools (14/05/2018)

The Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation of the City of Murcia, Conchita Ruiz, presented this morning the book "Cuenta Cuentos con valores (ODS) La Generosidad", within the solidarity project of Manos Unidas.

This is the first volume of a trilogy aimed at students 6 to 8 years of the schools of the municipality of Murcia.

Their titles are "La Caja de los Botones", "El patio de mi cole" and "El arco de Sara".

Thus, the councilor stressed, "the City Council shows special sensitivity and concern for the activities of education for development and awareness that carry out both the councils and private entities, among which occupy a prominent place the non-governmental organizations for Development known as ONGD.

The Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, is responsible for implementing municipal policies in these areas, with the publication of the rules and regulations governing grants to development cooperation projects and education and awareness projects in development and subsequently the corresponding calls.

A number of NGDOs attended the call for 2017, among which Manos Unidas was present, concurring with the project "Cuenta Cuentos con valores (ODS) La Generosidad".

The project has a total cost of € 4,832.00, of which the obtained subsidy reaches € 951.66.

The project is complemented by fun complementary activities to be carried out in the classes, which favors the transmission in their homes of what has been learned and learned in the school about the unjust realities that people in developing countries are living.

Activities that help to enhance the ability to reflect on the difficulty of being different, recognize their own identity and value their abilities, build a sense of belonging in different social and cultural contexts, promote respect, solidarity, commitment, etc.

with others, as well as working on values ​​education to generate a change of attitudes that favors peace, solidarity and justice.

850 copies have been published, bound in cardboard and partially financed by the City of Murcia, which will be delivered as the final culmination of the awareness campaign to schools Santa Rosa de Lima in El Palmar, Monteazahar de Beniaján, La Merced-Fuensanta of Murcia, Las Boqueras de Santiago and Zaraiche, Torreteatinos de El Raal, Fuenteblanca de Murcia, Christ Crucified by Saint Angel, Antonio Díaz de Los Garres, Our Lady of Fátima de Beniaján, Santa María del Carmen de Murcia, Francisco Giner de los Ríos of Santiago el Mayor, Francisco Noguera of San José De la Vega, Our Lady of the Candelaria of Valladolises, Vicente Medina of El Esparragal, Virgin of Fuensanta de La Alberca, Divine Master of Murcia, school Montepinar de El Esparragal, Maestro Enrique Laborda of Los Dolores, Marco de Puente Tocinos and Jesús María de Murcia, participants selected by lot during the press conference.
