The Floridablanca IES of Murcia was the winner of the first English Debate Tournament for Secondary and High School students organized by the Ministry of Education and the IES La Flota de Murcia.
The tournament, developed during the month of April and early May, has had the participation of eight secondary schools in the region: the IES Alfonso X el Sabio, the IES Floridablanca, the IES Saavedra Fajardo, the IES Miguel Espinosa, the IES La Flota, the San Buenaventura School, the IES Poeta Julián Andúgar de Santomera and the IES of the Murcia hamlet of Alquerías.
The Floridablanca IES and the IES La Flota managed to reach the final, in which this last institute won.
Both teams were coordinated by professors of the bilingual system who prepared the students for the final, whose theme was human cloning.
The general director of Attention to the Diversity and Educational Quality, Esperanza Moreno, highlighted "the great fluency, diction ability, vocabulary management of these students who have demonstrated a high linguistic level".
"We are sure that this type of initiative will be widespread in the next courses given the great reception it has had among the participating students," concluded Esperanza Moreno.
