Murcia will recover the exhibition hall Caballerizas after the summer (11/05/2018)

The Governing Board has given the green light to the award of the repair and conservation works of the Caballerizas Room, attached to the Los Molinos del Río Hydraulic Museum, which will allow the reopening of this exhibition space after the summer.

The works that will be carried out will consist in the repair, insulation and waterproofing of the existing inverted roof, the exterior waterproofing of the separation wall with the street Los Molinos, the rehabilitation of the interior pavement of the building and the dry cleaning of the historic stonework pieces.

It will also proceed to the consolidation of the sandstone of the walls and pilasters and interior arches with the repair and sealing of cracks and fissures.

Caballerizas is one of the few samples of civil architecture of the eighteenth century in Murcia.

This building was intended to be the stables of the mills and the Parador del Rey.

The construction of trapezoidal plant, is a construction of sandstone walls, with ashlars in singular elements (parapet, cornice, corners, jambs, etc.) and masonry walls.

Inside it consists of a single diaphanous vaulted space, formed by six semi-spherical vaults supported by stone arches on two central pillars and pilasters in the perimeter walls.

The building has a total built area of ​​266.55 m2.

This room is intended for temporary exhibition space dependent on the Department of Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, which will invest in these works, whose execution period is 4 months, 156,284 euros.
