Change Murcia denounces the dismantling of municipal youth and housing services (10/05/2018)

The spokesman of the municipal group of Cambiemos Murcia, Nacho Tornel, has denounced today "the dismantling and precarization" of the staff of the City of Murcia, both in the number of people working in the services and in regard to their conditions labor

Tornel, who has made these statements at a press conference, has argued that this situation is the result of the "passivity" of this government team and prior to the time to provide the services of sufficient personnel, so that workers can perform their functions "in decent conditions."

In this sense, has compared the City with "a giant feet with mud" because although it has a "large structure", can not meet the services and while Murcia looks "very beautiful in terms of gardens, activities and fireworks ", that is," everything that looks superficially ", lacks personnel.

"A situation of precariousness is occurring in the working conditions and the number of members of the municipal staff motivated by the policy of outsourcing services in the 24 years that the PP has been in La Glorieta", added Tornel, who, at this point, he has referred to the lack of consolidation of interim employment and the illegal transfer of workers.

The mayor has addressed the problems of Youth and Housing services, although he has advanced that during the next few weeks will inform of the situation of other departments of the Consistory that have similar characteristics in terms of lack of workers and workers in their conditions .

Youth Service: only three officials for the InformaJoven

In the case of Youth, "we find ourselves with very clear situations" as it happens with the InformaJoven, which has gone from having in the 90s a staff of seven officials to five in 2004 and 3 currently.

This decrease contrasts with the fact that services have been growing "in quantity and complexity", and with the increase in outsourcing.

In reference to the Eurodesk service, dedicated to training and education and that in the last four years has received on three occasions a special mention by the director of INJUVE, the councilor explained that the PP "has been unable to consolidate" the plaza of a person who during the last 16 years has carried out the work of this program and who will stop doing it next July because it is an illegal cession of workers.

For its part, "youth centers are being managed by the Local Council for Youth", which is in an alegal situation according to Change Murcia, "or by private companies in other centers."

"The PP has been living on the income of exemplary professionals and has done nothing to consolidate municipal services, focusing on an erratic policy that only hurts the people who work in them and the citizens."

Tornel also commented that the head of the Youth service is held by a person in temporary regime and commission of services since April 2015, "a temporality that a year ago expired" and whose profile is not related to the field of youth policies .

Situation of absolute precariousness in the Housing service

Regarding the housing service, according to the spokesman of the municipal group of Cambiemos Murcia, is in "situation of absolute precariousness" because the "limited staff" has to manage about 1,000 records related to municipal housing, maintenance, social work with the family and the rent, among other aspects.

"These 1,000 files are being managed by a minimum number of people." The administrative section consists of two administrative staff, one of whom has been on leave for many months, and three administrative assistants, four social workers are in charge of the social section and the technique there is an architect, an administrative assistant, two guards and two draughtsmen for the whole volume of municipal housing ".

To this, has added the launch of two initiatives in recent months such as the Murcia Alquila Program and the young Alejov program, for which "there is not enough staff".

"It is literally impossible to start up these programs with what is supposed to be of public attention, publicity, attention to families or housing search, because there is no staff".

"This means that the programs approved by the Plenary of the Corporation and designed by the technicians are sacrificed from the beginning due to incompetence and disinterest of the Government team," he concluded.
