Twenty-six companies present offers to build the riverwalk between the Manterola footbridge and the Alameda del Malecón (09/05/2018)

Twenty-six companies have submitted bids to the City Council to take on the contract for the construction of the River Segura of the Segura River between the Manterola footbridge and the Murcia motorway and its connection with Paseo del Malecón.

The bid amount amounts to 2.9 million euros (VAT excluded) and the expected execution time is one year.

The technical proposals will be evaluated from now on, before proceeding to the opening of the economic ones.

This action, which is part of the strategic project 'Murcia River', involves the creation of a green route along an area of 19,825 m2 that will be used entirely for pedestrian and cyclist use, with family areas of stay and walk and bike lane segregated and bidirectional.

The itinerary will run along the left bank of the river, connecting the Manterola footbridge area with the Alameda del Malecón, on the other side of the highway.

It will cover fully urban areas with peri-urban and orchard areas, so its objective will be the structuring and gradual connection of the city with its agricultural and natural environment.

In this way, there will be an urbanized walk along the river, from Manterola to the back of Murcia-Park and the conservatory, which will give way to a greener transition zone on the fluvial front of the Malecón's deterrent parking, from which will access the garden areas and the new green spaces of the Alameda del Malecón and the Cuatro Piedras.

The new pedestrian promenade will stand slightly above the river and with a direct view of its channel, as an alternative route to the Malecón.

The connection between these two pedestrian circuits will be articulated by a greenway that will border the current deterrent parking.

In addition, part of the current Murcia Parque complex will be conditioned to create a new access from the riverbed.

The separation between the two areas, road and pedestrian, is made effective by a small gap that starts at the beginning of the walk and that decreases until it disappears in the final area of this itinerary.

There is also a tree-lined row with poplars, alms or elms, accompanied by shrubs and ornamental Mediterranean plants (laurel, broom, rose, elderberry, brambles, tarays).

All the development of the project will have a 'smarting' component, integrating the application of new technologies to sustainability.
