Now Murcia: "The City Council recognizes its lack of control of municipal urbanism for more than 15 years" (08/05/2018)

- The data presented this morning for the Environmental Monitoring Program endorse the complaints that Murcia has made about the urban planning of the municipality, and show that "plans, actions and licensing have been approved without complying with the PGOU Environmental Impact Statement. Murcia"

- Ángeles Micol, who has attended the ceremony held in the Chamber of Corregidores, says that "today it has been shown that the moratorium that Murcia Now requires for the development of town planning in the municipality is more necessary than ever"

- As indicated by the UPCT team today, there is no Environmental Monitoring Program approved or in force since 2002, there being none of the specific plans that make up the Program and that had to be approved and in force since that year, when they were mandatory .

The councilor Ángeles Micol, of the municipal group Now Murcia, has attended the morning of today to the presentation of the studies carried out by the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) for the data of the Environmental Monitoring Program and the analysis of the General Plan of Ordination Urbana (PGOU) of the municipality of Murcia.

The editorial team of both studies, present this morning at the event held in the Hall of Corregidores of the City of Murcia, has pointed out issues such as that the Environmental Monitoring Program has not been carried out during the 15 years that should be in force, as well as that none of the specific plans that make up the Program exist and that they had to be approved and in force.

The Environmental Monitoring Program of the PGOU should have been approved in 2002, one year after the plan, and it should have been in force during all this time.

As detailed by the study presented by the councilor Angeles Micol last February, this program should have been integrated with a series of specific monitoring plans, such as flood prevention and earthquake prevention, as well as monitoring and improvement plans, the environmental ecoauditory, and the control of the incidence of the constructions.

All this, mandatory by the current regulations and the PGOU, does not exist in our municipality, as it has been denouncing Now Murcia since it came to the Municipal Corporation, although the Popular Party and the Town Planning, Antonio Navarro Corchón, have been Refused to recognize reality again and again.

As the councilor Angeles Micol has expressed, "that there is nothing of all this required documentation, shows that the City Council has allowed a law of the jungle in the urban planning of the municipality, and makes necessary the moratorium on the urban developments that we have been demanding from now Murcia ", as proposed in the motion presented by this municipal group in the plenary session of February 2018.

Finally, the Councilor of Now Murcia, has congratulated the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and grateful for the work of its teachers and students, as these documents "are the best basis we can have to continue studying and implement all the provisions of the General urban planning plan.
