The PSOE applauds the revision of the PGOU and requires the PP to take advantage to design a balanced urbanism for all Murcia (08/05/2018)

The spokeswoman recalled that the study of the General Urban Plan is a socialist bet, which not only claimed in the Plenary of January 2016, but also forced the PP to include specific items in the budgets to start the review work

The Municipal Socialist Group has applauded the beginning of the revision process of the General Plan of Urban Planning and has demanded the Government team, of the PP, to take advantage of "this opportunity to design an urbanism for the municipality balanced and that favors all Murcia, "Not as I have done until now, which benefited a few, the cronies, and hurt all the others".

The socialist spokesperson, Susana Hernandez, who participated this morning in the presentation of the work on the diagnosis of the Environmental Monitoring Program of the PGOU, recalled that this is going to review "thanks to the commitment of the PSOE, which not only asked in a motion of January 2016, approved with the votes of the opposition and the abstention of the PP, but forced the PP to allocate specific items in the 2016 and 2017 budgets for the previous studies, which is what has been presented today "

In this sense, he said that "we have a magnificent opportunity to correct a Plan full of imbalances between the north and south of the municipality and that has been predatory especially with the garden".

It also adds that the current PGOU, which dates back to 2001, was drawn up in the context of the real estate boom and unlimited land demand that has led to disorderly growth in the municipality in recent years, which is why the new Plan "has to recover again the objective of understanding urbanism as a public service to improve the quality of life of Murcia, avoiding the predominance of the interests of a few over the majority ".

Also, Hernandez has considered that "we must also bet on an urban development that favors sustainable urban mobility, with a better distribution of services, a more compact municipality, with fewer territorial imbalances and with a clear commitment to the enhancement of our garden and river. "
