Murcia City Council celebrates Family Day with a party in the Silk Garden for children and adults This new edition will have the presence of 44 entities that will carry out workshops and games in the stands scattered around the garden (08/05/2018)

Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, presented this morning the party organized, together with the Autonomous Community of Murcia, on the occasion of International Family Day, to be held for the third consecutive year in the city of Murcia .

One more year the Garden of Silk will become next Sunday the meeting place to commemorate this day in collaboration with associations and NGOs.

A morning that will bring together parents, mothers and children in a fun and festive meeting, with activities prepared especially for fun and leisure for the little ones.

It must be remembered that the International Day of the Family is celebrated every year on May 15 since 1994, after the previous year was proclaimed this date by agreement of the General Assembly of the United Nations, echoing the importance that the international community gives to the family.

For this reason, from 10 in the morning until noon, attendees can enjoy creative workshops, crafts, balloon twisting, sign language or musical and dance performances, all enlivened by animators and monitors who will take care of making the boys and girls who participate.

"It's about putting the family in social value as the basic core of our society, in a day full of excitement and surprises to enjoy the open air of this marked date, encourage coexistence between parents and children, the relationship with other families, share experiences and experiences that can serve each one in their day to day, "explained the councilor.

In this edition there are 44 stands, six more than in the last edition, which have been placed in the Silk Garden for the participating associations.

Thus, the Forum of the Family, the ONCE, Cepaim, Aspanpal, Columbares, La Huertecica, Feaes, Astrapace, Fade, Asprodes, as well as entities such as Famdif, Adahi, Scouts de Murcia or Acofamt will be present from the Platform of the third sector.

It should be remembered that two years ago there were 15 entities represented, so in three years attendance has tripled, as it is an appropriate occasion to promote awareness and a better understanding of the social, economic and demographic processes that affect to this important core of society.

City Council collaboration with families

In addition to the celebration of the International Day of the Family, from the City of Murcia represented by the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, there are many lines of action that are promoted to facilitate the daily life of families.

Thus, for example, large families have numerous bonuses and tax exemptions or free interurban transportation.

Added to this are actions to support the family and its social care, the schooling of children and their education, measures to promote leisure and family time, participation and rights of children or the protection of children .
