"The creation of Special Acoustic Protection Zones (ZPAE) has been the last of the municipal outrages that has put an end to the patience of the innkeepers, we have had to reach such a situation to express in a strong way that the City Council has to change their ways ", explains the president of Hostemur Jesús Jiménez.

The employer complains that the noise maps to create the ZPAE have been prepared based on a report that presents errors and irregularities and requests their cancellation, since the Sectorial Council of Noise has been completely ignored for its approval.

"These maps must be done well, with adequate tools, we must sit down all the parties involved and with the contribution and sacrifice of all define what Murcia we want, where the rest of the neighbors is compatible with the hospitality that makes our city unique, always from the legality, "says Jiménez, who remembers that hoteliers have always seen themselves as part of the solution to the problem.

Many problems

But the sector does not complain only about the ZPAE, since there are many problems that have been dragging for years and very few negotiated solutions that the City Council has applied.

Hostemur requests - all this processed by the Sectorial Council of Noise - the updating of municipal ordinances that allow them to work in a stable and equal legal framework for all areas of the city, with a model of unified and useful terrace.

In addition, it demands the streamlining of licenses for them, the establishment of non-restrictive criteria to calculate the capacity of the premises, the elimination of unjustified limitations to exercise the hotel business in streets of less than 7 meters ... "There is a great blockage in the City Council, with many files paralyzed, with different criteria for the interpretation of the rules ", complains the president of Hostemur, who stresses that it has managed to" unite the sector to say 'enough is enough!'

A great sacrifice

A closure of bars, cafes, restaurants, nightclubs and clubs with which Murcia hoteliers want to show what the city would be like without the life that their establishments contribute to give it.
