The UMU celebrates the constituent cloister of the Luján stage (04/05/2018)

The University Senate, the highest representative body of the University of Murcia, held yesterday afternoon, Thursday, May 3, its constitutive session, which proceeded to the election of the Board of the Senate, which was as follows:

President: Rector José Luján Alcaraz.

Members Natos: Francisco Antonio González Díaz (Secretary General) and José Antonio Cascales Saseta (Manager).

Vice President: Alejandra Selma Penalva;

Secretary: José Manuel Fontela Gómez;

Members: María Teresa Pellicer and Francisco Javier Martínez Conesa.

The Rector José Luján announced his intention to resume the reform process of the statutes of the University of Murcia, whose theme will lead to the next faculty.

The Rector also informed about his intention to proceed in the next faculty to the election of a new Ombudsman, given that the current one, Professor José Palazón, has already finished his second term.

Candidates can stand for this election, which will culminate next May 29, in a cloister that will elect the Ombudsman.

The election requires a reinforced majority, so the Rector pleaded for the presence of all the claustrales in that plenary session, which "will be very important to renew this figure, which plays a very important role on a day-to-day basis at our university".

For his part, the Secretary General of the UMU, Francisco Antonio González Díaz, reported on the process of election of different university committees and bodies: representatives of the University Senate in the Governing Council, Commissions of the Senate of Quality, Academic Distinctions, General scholarships and Juridical, as well as the members of the Commission of Claims of squares of contracted professors and of Claims of squares of civil servants of the university educational bodies.

All of them will be held in the aforementioned Cloister on May 29.

During the question and answer session, a claustral member of the Administration and Services Staff, acting as spokesperson for a group of comrades, proposed to the faculty to sign an institutional declaration disagreeing with the sentence to La Manada, considering that it denigrates the women in general.

The Rector proposed that such a declaration be written so that the next Senate could pronounce on it.
