The University of Murcia seals the collaboration with companies and associations for the labor inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities (04/05/2018)

The University of Murcia signed on Friday collaboration agreements with companies and associations so that students with intellectual disabilities can do external internships and thus facilitate their inclusion in the workplace.

The students that will benefit from these agreements are the participants in the course 'We are all campus: course for employment and university inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities'.

The course is organized and taught by the University of Murcia and is part of the offer of the institution's own studies, with the support of the Collaborating Entity.

It trains young people between 18 and 30 years old enrolled in the Youth Guarantee System with an intellectual disability equal to or greater than 33%.

"It is a pride that there are so many companies committed to improving society," said the rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, who highlighted the great work done by the signatory associations in favor of equality and the integration.

The rector recalled that "traditionally, the University has contributed to raise awareness about the need to take diversity into account and integrate it into the classroom".

The course 'We are all campus' opens the door of the University to young people who need extra support to access the job market.

The University of Murcia intends to continue making progress in this training project for employment in the university context, increasing the number of students in the program and the collaborating companies in future editions.

The companies that have signed the agreements for participation in the program are: Aguas de Murcia, Alcantadis, Bambi Nursery School, Terra Natura Murcia, Onlycable Group, Leroy Merlin, Hero Spain, Hospital de Molina, La Opinion of Murcia, Villademar Residence, Suvoz Global Services, Cooperativa de Enseñanza Severo Ochoa and Hospital Quirón, and with the associations: Astrapace, Astus, Ceom and Fundown.

The act of the signing was led by the Vice Chancellor for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society, Alicia Rubio.

The vice-rectors of Students, Cristina Sánchez López, and of Studies, Sonia Madrid, were in charge of initialling the agreements with the rector, José Luján, on behalf of the University of Murcia.
