More than 500 children from 91 educational centers will benefit from the aid to support schooling granted by Social Rights (04/05/2018)

The Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, through the Municipal Service of Social Services, has presented to the Government Board the proposal to carry out complementary actions to ensure coverage of the most basic needs of food, transportation and schooling of children in situation of vulnerability.

Specifically, the grants are granted to cover these needs during the second and third trimesters of the 2017-2018 school year and the amount thereof is 241,408 euros.

Of these, 530 minors will be directly benefited, of whom 268 are men and 262 women, enrolled in 91 schools in the municipality.

"Our goal is to provide the necessary means so that all children are on equal terms, as set out in strategic line 2 and 5 of the Municipal Program for Children and Adolescents, in order to promote full school integration of socially disadvantaged children, in situations of vulnerability or social exclusion ", explained Conchita Ruiz.

The municipal social services centers are in charge of carrying out the proposals of those minors who need this special support, based on the knowledge of the families and the socio-educational intervention that is carried out with them.

"With this aid is intended to improve the social and educational conditions of children, and to serve as a measure of reinforcement and preventive intervention work that is done with them," remarked the councilor.
