José Ballesta has held a working meeting with the new rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, and his management team, in which they have tackled joint projects for the city.

The 'Phase 0' is going to suppose the opening to the Murcians of the deposit throughout this year.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, along with council members Rebeca Pérez and Rafa Gómez, held a working meeting today with the new rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, and his rectoral team, in which they discussed joint projects for the city.

One of the projects in which the institutional collaboration has been promoted is the recovery of the archaeological site of San Esteban, through the collaboration agreement between the City Council and the University, which will be signed in the coming weeks, and which will mean the beginning of the works of the 'Phase 0'.

In the meeting of the Committee of San Esteban Experts held last February, and in which the approval of the Master Plan was reported, the 'Phase 0' of the action was presented, which will involve opening to the Murcia from the site throughout this year, who can contemplate in situ the excavation and restoration work of the archaeological remains of the twelfth and thirteenth century, for which the City Council will have a specialized team from the University of Murcia.

Phase 0 is the opening and social recovery of San Esteban in 2018, after a complex and productive process of research and study, endorsed by experts and citizen participation.

The project is already defined and the next step is the signing of this agreement with the UMU (whose draft has been transferred to the University) for the start of field work and guided visits to the network of Arrabal de la Arrixaca Nueva.

Promotion of the Erasmus Murcia-Genoa

During the bilateral meeting of the City Council-UMU, the promotion of university exchange (Erasmus) between Genoa and Murcia was also addressed, following the recent visit of the mayor to the Italian city, where he held a working meeting with the Vice-Rector for Institutional Relations of the UniversitĂ  Degli Studi di Genova, within the framework of institutional collaboration between both cities that have already signed an agreement of intentions for their Twinning.
