The City Council will continue to seek an agreement that satisfies leisure entrepreneurs and neighbors (02/05/2018)

Jesus Pacheco shows his surprise at the announcement of the closure of bars next Saturday because "there is no approved measure and we continue with our outstretched hand to speak, listen and achieve a rapprochement."

Ensures that there is nothing definitive, it is not even known if the allegations presented by Hostemur will be accepted, which is why 'it seems that it makes little sense to consider measures of this magnitude'.

The councilor insists that it is the duty of the City Council to ensure the right to rest of the neighbors.

The councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesus Pacheco, regretted the decision announced by hospitality entrepreneurs to close their establishments next Saturday because 'they have not given an option to hold negotiations when we are still finishing reviewing the allegations the measures proposed so that the noise does not reduce the quality of life of the neighbors.

Pacheco has ensured that meetings have been held with hoteliers, as with other groups, and 'we are willing to listen to you as long as necessary and how many times it takes to explain any doubts you may have about the proposal'.

The councilor has insisted that there is still nothing definitive, which is why 'it seems that it makes little sense that when we are still in that phase, measures of this magnitude are proposed'.

Despite everything, the City Council 'will not stop looking for a balance,' he insisted, for which 'we will continue sitting at the tables that are needed to reach an agreement that satisfies all parties, hoteliers and neighbors and, meanwhile, we will continue with the outstretched hand to speak, listen to them and achieve an approach.

Quality of life of the neighbors

The City Council approved in February an initial proposal to create three Special Acoustic Protection Zones in streets where the acoustic quality objectives are exceeded.

After a period of allegations, which both Hostemur and other groups attended, the technicians are finishing studying them.

When this task is completed, a meeting of the Sectorial Council of Noise will be convened, where all the affected parties are represented, and from there a definitive proposal will be issued.

The creation of these ZPAE affects streets where there are high levels of noise and it is therefore necessary to establish corrective measures aimed at making leisure compatible with the quality of life of the residents of these areas and their right to rest.

Therefore, 'there is still a long way to go before taking a measure of this kind', concludes Pacheco.
