Autonomous Community Hall and provide 3.9 million euros to guarantee basic social benefits (07/06/2010)

Staying committed to the people of the municipality and, especially, access to basic social services is guaranteed one more year.

For this, the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and Social Policy Adviser, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, this morning signed an additional protocol to the agreement signed last year to extend such aid in 2010.

The amount of the agreement amounts to almost 3.9 million euros, of which 985,000 come from the municipal coffers, which will target three aspects: the maintenance of the network of primary care, the development of home help service and the accompanying program for social inclusion.

That is, the agreement allows the maintenance of the 3 Centres of Social Services which provides the city of Murcia and 31 units of Social Work who depend on them and a core staff 83 professionals (social workers, educators, psychologists, counselors legal, directors and administrative staff).

The infrastructure that accomplishes this task is to ensure the right of citizens of the municipality to resources and benefits of public social services.

The network of municipal social services attended during 2009 to almost 30,000 people through the appointment, handling over 14,000 records relating to resources and benefits, primarily economic aid, provision of the law of agency, social attachment, revenue centers, etc.

More than 27,000 people were treated in 2008 by appointment, compared with 22,489 in 2007 and 17,800 the previous year.

Therefore, in the last 4 years has grown by 83% the number of people served by appointment to the management of primary care benefits.

These interventions must be added the various projects and activities that develop from them and directly impacted more than 5,000 children through various programs, including the monitoring of school absenteeism, activity programs to children, schools summer tutoring, etc.

1,697 home care users in Murcia

The development of home help services, also included in the performance benefiting from this agreement will in 2010 with the contribution of 1.6 million euros, of which 411,000 will be funded by the City.

Meanwhile, the accompanying program will receive an endowment of 208,000 euros.

Currently, a total of 1,697 people benefit from the provision of home help service, compared with 650 users that began in 1995.

It is, in all cases, to offering services based on care and attention in the home of individuals and families struggling to fend for themselves.

The aim is to maintain or restore physical, psychological and social patient, allowing the permanence in their environment, promoting personal autonomy and increasing their quality of life.
