The Socialist councilor Alfonso Navarro has today proposed to PP at a news conference a plan for the redistribution of municipal expenditure and utilization of resources.

Urgently needed and Navarro highlighted redistribute the municipal budget by consensus, with the participation of social partners and economic and political groups that form the municipal corporation.

Generate wealth and employment

In this way, the PSOE mayor explained that "the plan would aim to define the objectives and the level of current expenditure substantially reducing superfluous and dispensable, and so go to prioritize investment spending to activities that generate wealth and employment and maintain social spending.

In this sense, Navarro noted that this initiative of the municipal budget redistribution could produce savings of more than 20 million euros, amount which would have to add the settings that have already been adopted in relation to the remuneration of staff and political office.

Reduced specific items

Reflecting further on the details, the Socialist councilor has proposed a reduction in specific items such as referring to meetings and conferences (2,078,186 euros), studies and technical papers (€ 4,768,765), celebrations (3.25 million €), publicity and propaganda (€ 948,758), miscellaneous (€ 1,991,203), among others.

These items, has indicators can be reduced substantially while maintaining the objectives for which they are designed and deriving the savings to more productive issues.

Current expenditure and debt

Remember that the operating costs of the City of Murcia in 2008 reached 78% of the total executed budget, while actual investments reached only its own resources to a meager 10%, being the standard pattern, as in 2009 income current accounted for 79% of the total executed budget and investments dropped to 8.54%.

Raise the shade of the City Council last year cost the 880,000 euros per day, representing a total of 321 million euros a year or whatever it is, 79% of the budget actually executed, which amounted to 386 million euros.
