House considered "fruit of improvisation" • the ban on access to credit to finance municipal investments (26/05/2010)

The municipalities of the Region of Murcia as "unworkable, the result of improvisation and ignorance of reality" as the Government of the Nation which forbids local authorities turn to credit to finance investments in 2011, once corrected the initial claim to enforce the rule with immediate effect.

After the extraordinary meeting of the executive committee of the FMRM, its chairman and mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, reported the agreement to seek the repeal of this section.

If not, the municipalities are at real risk of not being able to meet its multi-year commitments or projects co-financed by European funds with an established periodicity, which also require to return the money.

House has chaired the executive committee, for a little over an hour, has analyzed the situation "dramatic" suffered by the municipalities in the region from the point of view, further aggravated by sustained cuts on government revenues and now, the new measure that prohibits access to credit.

"They improvised measures have been taken into account the reality of Spanish municipalities," said the president of the FMRM at the end of the meeting, which has brought together the mayors of Lorca, Mula, Molina de Segura, San Javier, Calasparra, Sewer and Caravaca, Murcia well.

The presidents of the municipalities have agreed to ask the financial vice president of government and FEMP to re-engage and reach agreements that make it really feasible measures to help alleviate the deficit Spanish.

"We dialogue, consensus and feasible measures are introduced and does not intend to pay the government's economic mismanagement of the nation on the face of the municipalities," said House.

In this sense, the Mayor of Murcia has insisted that only half point of the current deficit of the state has been generated by the 8,400 Spanish municipalities.

Moreover, their debt is caused by excessive spending, but have insufficient income.

According to Miguel Ángel Cámara, this situation is caused because neither the National Government or any other administration has addressed the requirements of municipalities to establish a stable funding to finance the services provided to citizens.
