The mayor signed an agreement with Iberdrola, which would remove the towers and overhead power lines in El Palmar, Espinardo and Rectors (24/05/2010)

The towers and overhead lines that now cross the village of El Palmar and rising on Espinardo and Rectors definitely disappear thanks to the collaboration agreement signed this morning by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and the chairman of the board of Iberdrola Distribución Eléctrica, Javier Villalba.

In addition to the burial of these lines of high and medium voltage (3 to 132 KW, 1 of 66 Kv and 12 of 20 Kv), the agreement will involve the modernization of the electricity network in the municipality of Murcia with the construction of new substations in compact- Espinardo and in the southwest of the city-and industry-wide organization which currently holds the electrical substation Espinardo.

Iberdrola is committed to building the infrastructure to improve and ensure power to the municipality, now and in the future.

Besides improving the quality of supply that will occur with the incorporation of new and more efficient technologies, the elimination of cables and towers will be a definite improvement of the visual impact on the affected areas.

It is the creation and modernization of substations and connect them to create a ring around the city in order that if a fault can supply electricity for another substation.

This ring is present in ten Spanish cities.

Moreover, Espinardo substation will be replaced by a compact, freeing up 10,000 m2 of land in which they develop a special plan for the construction of offices.

According to its plan, the new substation will enter service in 2013 and culminating 3 years after other actions, including installing compaction Espinardo.
