Starts Campaign 'Lord House, my time is money' (20/05/2010)

The Socialists ask the mayor of Murcia not to make citizens lose more time with an outdated public transportation system

A score of young socialists have made this morning a massive distribution of leaflets in bus stops for passengers to line 31 which joins Murcia Alquerías to report the loss of time involved in municipal public transport use.

The coordinator of Young Socialists in the city of Murcia, Alejandro Toledo, has explained that the campaign called 'Mr. House, my time is money', intends to claim an improvement of public bus service in the districts.

He has also criticized that "poor planning the just forcing people to resort to the private car to some outdated and some routes schedules are not adapted to the needs of the municipality."

In this sense, Toledo has stated that "the initiative carried out this morning confirms that this is an obsolete and has public transport as an example to line 31 in which they have invested almost 45 minutes to travel the seven miles to join Alquerías with the center of Murcia. "

"It seems that the mayor House does not mind playing with time of Murcia because it does nothing to reform an inefficient public transport and has a disproportionate cost to service, has criticized Toledo.

Where is the City Council after the suspension of the strike?

For its part, the Socialist councilor in the city of Murcia, José Manuel Abellán, has again had an impact on the public bus system needs urgent reform because it is particularly discriminatory to the residents of the districts and called for the government team that leave the state of political paralysis that came from the suspension of the strike by workers Latbus.

For the council "would have to wonder what the City is working and what immediate measures will be taken to avoid the daily traffic problems once the service has returned to normal.

"A normal no longer a string of nonsense made up by delays in services, traffic chaos and exorbitant bus fares," says José Manuel Abellán.

Against that, the Socialists are pushing for a strategic realignment in the municipal public transport network.

The council notes that measures have already raised that encourage use of public transport as the introduction of free Thursday on a pilot basis, to reinforce the lines with higher frequencies and times especially during peak hours, to unify the rates for the ticket cost a euro throughout the municipality and to undertake an expansion of the network of bus lanes and park and ride.

Finally, the Secretary of Transportation of the Municipal Executive, Rafael Richart, said that "experts advise that public transport to be effective must have a frequency of less than fifteen minutes and just look at the example of Stables, where citizens have to wait an hour to come to Murcia to verify the lack of usefulness of the current system. "

The initiative 'Mr. House, my time is money' has been organized jointly by the Young Socialists in the city of Murcia, the Northeast District Band 'The Fens' and Stables section of the South Association, in collaboration with the Mobility Group the Municipal Executive.

The campaign kicked off Wednesday night with the massive distribution of leaflets in the villages of Stables, El Raal, Santa Cruz, Llano de Brujas and Bacons Bridge.
