In search of happiness (19/05/2010)

The professor at the University of Bologna and Adjunct Professor of International Political Economy at Johns Hopkins University, Stefano Zamagni, has spoken this afternoon at the UCAM on 'The ethics of virtue for the public welfare', at a conference in activities framed scheduled by the 'Chair Ethics, Politics and Humanities', UCAM-FAES.

The professor has said that society today lives with a series of paradoxes that can not be solved with the ethical and professional conduct, for example.

On these paradoxes, Stefano Zamagni stressed that "in our economic system of wealth increases, but at the same time, social inequalities will grow further."

Furthermore, she added that although the food system can cope with the entire population, there are still areas to which resources fail.

The lecturer, has been identified as another paradox decline of democratic participation.

"Now there are more channels of information, but despite this, democratic participation is lower," he asserted.

Similarly, and in relation to the 'happiness paradox', discovered in 1974 by an economist Stefano Zamagni has stressed that there comes a point where after a certain income level, even to increase these, the happiness does not increase but decreases.

He concluded by assuring that all these paradoxes have one thing in common, based on social and not material.
