Statement of the Governing Board before the terrible murder of a woman was yesterday at the hands of her husband in St. James the Great (12/05/2010)

Faced with the terrible murder of a woman was yesterday at the hands of her husband in St. James the Great, the Governing Board expressed its condemnation and its firm rejection.

If any type of violence is rejected, which is directed against women is the most despicable of human rights violations and terrible forms of discrimination.

The Governing Board shares the grief of the family of the victim and expressed his radical rejection of such events, while calls on society to fight together from all areas of gender violence.

All women are entitled to express their fear, to report their situation and be heard, and from public services such as emergency telephone 112, are given this opportunity, unfortunately the new victim was unable to exercise.

The City, through the Municipal Plan for Equal Opportunities for Women, the Municipal Team for the Care of Domestic Violence (EMAVI) and Team Care and Family Protection (EPAF), has been carrying out actions to mitigate these facts and care for women victims of this neglect, and continues to work with all means at its disposal but we never managed to end this scourge while giving behavior after the fact, while there are killers disguised under the halo of good intentions.

Accomplices attitudes that justify and support these two behaviors do nothing but harm and undermine the work we have done from institutions from all spheres of society, to stop these events.

It is a duty for all citizens oppose violence: from the most subtle psychological violence and harassment to physical violence that can end up like yesterday in the death of a woman whose decision to separate from her husband has led in his death.

We will not tire of claiming the rejection of all to these attitudes.

A bad word can hide an evil intention, and we should all be alert.
