18 students won the last phase of the Road Safety Competition XXI (11/05/2010)

Eighteen students from the municipality have won the third and final phase of the XXI Competition Road Safety and Accident Prevention, organized by the Municipality of Murcia School of 3 º ESO course.

The final was held this morning and presented 51 students, belonging to 17 teams of three students each, the town center.

The Councillor for Education and Youth, María Dolores Sánchez, visited the tests to meet the young finalists and has named the winners.

The winners are:

-First prize, CES Fuensanta La Merced.

"Second prize, CES Fuensanta La Merced.

-Third prize, CEP and S Salesian Don Bosco (Cabezo de Torres).

-Fourth Prize, CEP and S.

San Jose (La Alberca).

Fifth Prize-CEP and Our Lady of Consolation (Espinardo).

-Sixth award, IES José Planes (Espinardo).

The awards consist of cash for schools, mopeds, bicycles, Wii, photographic equipment and MP4.

The contest consists of three different rounds and after a phase of registration and preparation.

Registration will be held in October.

In November established the calendar and gave the material (folder with bases, moped manual) for the preparation of the test.

During January and February 4 local police officers went to schools to explain, clarify, suggest and propose activities that could help them prepare for the test.

The first phase took place during March in each of the participating centers.

49 centers were enrolled (20 and 29 aided schools IES Secondary) with the participation of 4,001 pupils, a 75.40% of the schools that can participate in this contest.

The first phase of the beat 150 teams with 450 students.

The second phase was held on 20 April in the hall of the local police.

The 450 students competed individually to pass a test that consisted of a questionnaire with 30 questions.

The score for each student in addition to their teammates, thus achieving the team score.

One hundred and fifty teams that had passed the first phase of the competition were presented to the second one hundred forty-seven test equipment.

The second stage exceeded the 17 groups that were at least 80 points, which are competing in the finals this morning.

All tests are theoretical and include quizzes on road safety, traffic signs, traffic rules and first aid.

The aim of this event, which this year celebrates 21 years, is to motivate young people in learning and compliance with traffic rules, creating and reinforcing attitudes and habits of living, responsibility and caution against risk attitudes and danger.

From the Department of Education affects the development and road safety education for young people to achieve the loss ratio 0.

The event is organized by the Department of Education and Youth together with local police.
