The City Council condemns the murder of a neighbor of James the Great in the hands of her partner (11/05/2010)

Murcia City Council this morning wanted to express their condemnation of the tragic murder this morning has been a woman, 67 years old, a resident of Barrio de Santiago el Mayor, at the hands of his girlfriend.

The Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare Policy and Equality, María del Carmen Pelegrin, has noted the rejection of all Murcia towards all acts of domestic violence and reaffirmed the commitment of the city of Murcia in the defense of equality and eradication of violence against women.

The victim, Antonia GP and born in 1942, married the alleged assailant, and arrested 22 years ago and, according to testimony gathered, it intended to begin the process of separation.

The attack, police said, occurred at ten o'clock in the courtyard of the family home after a heated argument during which the detainee, a retired iron company, grabbed a large stick and beat his wife in the head.

Then went to the house of a neighbor, which narrated the incident and called to warn the police and children.

According to police personnel, there is no history or prior complaints of maltreatment in the family.

Host-family stayed 8 women and 14 minors.

Information and attention is directed to women of all ages and social and cultural level and includes the protection and care of women and their children who require temporary accommodation and support specifically through the shelters.
