Over 41% of students taking courses Professional Qualification municipal continue their studies (09/05/2010)

Municipal courses of Initial Vocational Training Program of the Department of Employment, headed Beatriz Hontoria, are an alternative for many young people who have not obtained a Certificate in Secondary Education.

These courses are intended to give young people the possibility of a successful labor integration and expand its core competencies to continue their studies.

A 41.60% of the students, which ended last year 2008-2009, have decided to continue studying.

Of the 162 students who enrolled in the program, I ended up 84.56% (137 students), of which 89.05% had their certificate (122 students), 127 students did work experience in companies and 15, 74% of students continue to work (20 students), according to data from the Employment Service of the City.

Due to the crisis and economic recession the employment of young people at the moment is lower than in other years, which has become 50%.

Because the crisis has reversed the trend, reducing the percentage of students who are into the workforce and increasing continuing their studies in order to obtain your certificate in ESO.

Of 41.60% of students who have decided to continue with their studies, most choose to do a second course of Initial Vocational Training Program, others choose to School Workshops and occupational training courses and even Intermediate Vocational Training.

The Initial Vocational Training Program, the City Council offered free, is aimed at young people aged 16 to 21 who have not obtained the Diploma in ESO.

The Department of Employment offers eleven professional profiles are:

Auxiliary facilities, electrical engineering and communications.

Auxiliary-welding and metal construction and engineered plastics (2 groups)

-Services kitchen staff

-Auxiliary services Hairdressing

-Auxiliary services beauty

Computer-Support services

Operations of plumbing, HVAC (2 groups)

-Auxiliary Vehicle Maintenance (2 groups)

These courses have a duration of nine months, and include a month of practice (150 hours) in workplaces.

The activities take place from October 15 to 30 July or so.

Currently open enrollment period for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Since 1995, 2,049 students are enrolled in these courses, 1,582 young people finishing their studies.

144 have been offered job profiles and the average number of students who have continued working behind the practice is 55.8%, while the average of young people who continued their studies is 18.2%.
