This educational initiative organized by the Department for International Relations and Communication at the Catholic University in collaboration with the Directorate General for Institutional Relations of the Ministry of Defence and the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies.
The event will include the participation of first swords in international politics, security, defense and intelligence services, as the expert on intelligence and democratic systems of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid, Julia Pulido or intelligence expert , jihadism and terrorism at the University of Granada, Javier Jordán Enamorado.
The rector of International Relations and Communication UCAM, Pablo Blesa, opened the series with the conference `The common European security and defense in the process of building a united Europe, the WEU into the EU."
Blesa has analyzed in his speech the reality of Europe, from the standpoint of political and defense, the EU's relations with the United States, its importance in the Security Council and its overall development and economic and political reality from treaties of Maastricht, Nice and Lisbon.
Pablo Blesa also explained the current role of U.S. intelligence services and Europe in the fight against terrorism, the mission of the European armies in the task of creating a defense force, and their participation in peace missions and help humanitarian in different regions of the world, including Haiti, Indonesia, Afghanistan or Iraq.
