The island of Ibiza, Torrevieja and Torre Pacheco Puerto Lumbreras, new venues for the summer courses (04/05/2010)

The municipalities of San Antonio de Portmany (Ibiza), Torrevieja (Alicante), Torre Pacheco Puerto Lumbreras and incorporated this year as new venues for the summer courses of the Sea International University, University of Murcia, whose schedule has been submitted today in the building Convalescence.

In this edition, the International University of the Sea comes first regional boundaries and offer a course on marine ecology and conservation of the Mediterranean coast in the town Ibizencian of San Antonio de Portmany, and another that will focus on advanced programming of GPUs for scientific applications in Torrevieja.

Within the Region of Murcia, the town of Torre Pacheco, a mediation course on drug prevention, and Puerto Lumbreras, with a scientific conference for more than 50, add to the headquarters of the University.

In total, 51 courses will be in 21 municipalities, as quantified by the director of the Sea International University, Professor Manuela Lopez Tenes, who noted that when developing the program of activities, we sought a balance between the classic courses and bound to give the identity of this institution and renewal.

The first course ("The images of women in the three cultures") begins in Murcia at the end of May and will last until September.

Eagles is home to more courses, with 12, while Cartagena, which is the oldest in this edition offer a total of five.

The presentation ceremony was addressed by representatives of financial institutions partners, such as Pascual Martinez, director of the Foundation Cajamurcia, and Luis Conde, provincial director of Banco Santander Murcia, which emphasized the rigor and level of courses.

Social Council president, Juan Bernal, referred in his address to the importance which means that the University of Murcia is made present in many localities in the region and that approaches and even more to society.

The CEO of Universities and Scientific Policy of the Community, Eduardo Osuna, referred to the University effort to leave the Region and commended the high quality of programming.

The rector of the University, José Antonio Cobacho, said that since taking office, has worked to maintain and enhance the summer courses.

Cobacho welcomed because, he said, the University of Murcia is among the top five in Spain in terms of scale and consolidation of supply, and that, he said, despite the extreme difficulties being experienced by the public purse.

The ceremony at the headquarters of the Chancellor, met many political leaders of the host municipalities, academic authorities and directors of the courses.
