The City Council renews its commitment to the highest of the municipality (02/05/2010)

Service users are assured of home telecare this provision in 2010 with the extension of the collaboration agreement with FEMP and Inserso.

3,133 elderly people in the town to sleep in quiet every day because they have the support and assistance they need without having to leave their homes.

This is thanks to the telecare service that allows them to enjoy an easier life both over 65 and their families.

This feature helps to fill two of the most important needs of the elderly: the solitude and safety.

The Governing Board of the City of Murcia has given the green light this morning to the extension of the collaboration agreement with FEMP and Inserso.

The Telecare service allows people who live alone have confidence that crisis situations can be contacted via telephone and communication equipment and information specific to a center that is staffed by trained personnel.

Telecare is provided every day of the year, 24 hours and is a device aimed at improving the quality of life for over 65 years old, sick or disabled people living alone or living with others in similar situations.

This benefit, which began in Murcia in 1995 with 218 users, which reached 935 in 2002 and in 2003 had 1,500 beneficiaries, helping to cover two of the most important needs of the elderly: the solitude and safety.

Made good use of the beneficiaries of the municipality gives a good account of the volume of calls received each month, offering an average of 11,041.

Of these, nearly 5,000 are for calls made from the center of attention, which carried 4,000 users and more than 2,000 terminals engaged telecare for safety.

The City Government, in collaboration with the IMSERSO, made a significant investment commitment to the development of social service for the elderly and since its inception, has increased 1,000% over budget which absorbs each year.

In 1995-the first full year of operation, "the budget was 78,781 euros, 940,960 euros compared with 2009.

In the same measure, users of the town have experienced an increase from 218 to 3,133 at present, representing a growth of 1,337%, and mean more coverage than the national average.
