The Auschwitz UCAM closure in the IX International Conference on Charities and Volunteers (09/03/2010)

San Antonio Catholic University ended yesterday with the concentration camp of Auschwitz (Poland), the IX International Conference on Charities and Volunteers, held in Murcia, Madrid and Poland between 23 February and 8 March.

UCAM The delegation, composed of thirty teachers, students, legislators and volunteers, led by the director of the International Institute of Charity and Volunteer Juan Pablo II, Antonio Alcaraz, held a meeting with the Cardinal Archbishop of Krakow Archbishop Stanislaw Dzivisz , which encouraged them to continue to be witnesses of love and peace in the world.

IICV director Juan Pablo II, Antonio Alcaraz, has weighed positively the conclusion of these closing days on Polish soil.

"The delegation of the UCAM these days has completed an intensive program which included a visit to the Marian shrine of Our Lady of Chestokowa, where they worship the icon of the Black Madonna of Jasna Gora and Auschwitz concentration camp, scene of torture and murder of thousands of human beings, as the Jewish Carmelite philosopher, and patron of Europe, Edith Stein and Father Maximilian Kolbe, who gave his life to save another prisoner, "he explained.

Prayer Vigil in Auschwitz Lawmakers also held an emotional prayer vigil at the monastery of the Carmelite Sisters, located next to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Antonio Alcaraz, has stated that "this religious community, located on the very spot where the man was destroyed, received from Pope John Paul II commissioned to pray for peace in the world and witness of love."
