An exhibition features 45 photographs of the Murcia regional dress at the Museum of the City (09/03/2010)

The councilman of Culture, Fátima Barnuevo opens tonight at 20 pm, the exhibition "Traditional Costume Photos of Spain: Murcia" which includes a total of 45 images of costumes Murcia, both luxury and everyday, party and ceremony, both male and female, as well as hairstyles and accessories.

This exhibition, organized by the Federation of Choirs and Dances of Spain (FACYDE) and the Association of Songs and Dances of Murcia in collaboration with the Department of Culture, will be open until March 21.

The 45 photographs were taken by photographer Manuel Fernández Madrid Cuevas and selected from over a thousand images taken between May 2007 and March 2008.

The costumes featured in the photographs in the exhibition was provided by nine associations Murcia: Virgen del Rosario de Alhama, choirs and dance Cieza, Jumilla, Lorca, Molina de Segura, Murcia, Yecla and Santomera and association Virgen del Rosario de Puerto Lumbreras.

Manuel Fernández Cuevas, born in Madrid in 1956, worked with Cristina Garcia Rodero (FACYDE Honor Award, 2000), who traveled throughout Spain with a series of stories about festivals.

In his comprehensive professional curriculum include his work as a photographer and muralist for exhibitions as diverse as "Juan Ramón Jiménez," "Civil War" "The Comedy Film", "Wilfredo Lam", "The Iberians", "General Plan Madrid or Andalusia, the gateway to Europe. "

He has also published stories about festivals in archaeological journals and universities.

His photographs have been published in volumes VII and VIII of the Encyclopedia of Toros de Cossio and as director of production has made several videos about the exhibition "Madrid IX to XI century", "Madrid 70's" or "The cabinet IX to XI century. "

The Federation of Songs and Dances of Spain (FACYDE) was established in 1977 to host a number of groups of Songs and Dances with the intention to hold together the work of recovery, preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage.

Currently comprises fifty FACYDE folklore associations with more than 5,500 people dedicated to preserving a part of our cultural heritage.

In addition FACYDE is a member of the International Dance Council of UNESCO.
