All sectors involved in education in the region have joined the Social Pact for Education, whose budget amounts to 915 million euros

Murcia Mayor and President of the Federation of Municipalities, Miguel Ángel Cámara, today backed the Social Pact for Education in the Region of Murcia 2009/12 in establishing the means and strategies that will enable the achievement of educational excellence .

It is a commitment from all sectors that make up the educational community to improve the quality of education in the horizon of the next 4 years.

For this, the agreement includes a budget of 915 million euros.

In this sense, the municipalities in the region, through the Federation of Municipalities, are committed to working jointly with the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment for the construction of new educational facilities and improving existing ones, driven by needs schooling.

Also, local authorities in the region cooperate in the area of responsibility to the modernization of the educational infrastructure, with particular emphasis on improving access to health facilities, the use of renewable energy, improved sports facilities, access to new technologies and access to mobility for persons with physical limitations.

Other policy areas in which municipalities will work hard to control and reduce school absenteeism, job placement programs for people with intellectual disabilities and people at risk of social exclusion.

Promote awareness of the Region of Murcia among schoolchildren, to create programs of leisure that promote youth associations and municipalities promote arts education, language and sports, as well as adult education or the establishment of programs aimed at social integration and job placement are other commitments made by municipalities in the region in the field of the social contract for education.
