The Mayor presented the 29 vehicles that join the fleet of local police to strengthen security in neighborhoods and districts (19/01/2009)

Murcia City Council has invested 402,000 euros in the acquisition of 29 new vehicles motorcycles -18, 9 cars and 2 SUV-made available to the local police with the aim of further improving the means to promote increasingly better services to citizens.

The Mayor presented this morning in the Plaza Belluga vehicles, accompanied by the Councillor and Traffic Safety, Nuria Fuentes, Security Technical Secretary, Francisco Marín, and the Local Police Chief, Angel Marin.

This objective is being achieved thanks to the investments made by the council, which in the past four years has spent $ 2.3 million for the renewal of the fleet.

This is a reflection of the commitment of the government team, headed by the mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, to ensure the tranquility of Murcia and, as result of this, we are seeing a steady increase in the expansion of the staff of officials and modernization and renovation of the material.

Thus, in recent years the City has maintained a policy of continuous efforts to equip local police with sufficient means, modern and effective development of their functions.

The result of this action the Police force currently has the 180 motorcycles, 80 cars, 26 trucks, 11 jeeps and 2 motorcycles.

In total, the fleet now consists of 299 units.

The 29 vehicles are now added to the fleet comply with service in both cities and in villages.

Thus, to enhance public safety are incorporated 2 motorcycles of 660 cc Yamaha Trail, suitable for both road and circular paths of garden and mountains.

Also, the Police District of the city and the districts have 10 new Yamaha motorcycle 250 cc scooter, while expanding the fleet of service vehicles with 9 patrol cars Citroen Xsara Picasso.

Also be used for the 2 parishes Nissan X-Trail SUV purchased.

For its part, the traffic service is reinforced with 6 Honda Deauville 700 cc motorcycles.
