Reading courses of Women's Centres in the municipality are beginning this afternoon at 18.30 pm in the lounge of the annex building.

The Deputy Mayor of the Department of Social Welfare, Public Participation and Political Equality, Carmen Pelegrín chairing this event, which is called the Regional Association of Friends of Reading, and that their partnership will carry out the various workshops.

Associations also are called Women's Center: Vistabella, La Fama, La Paz, Santiago el Mayor, Vistalegre, San Antolin, City Center, La Arboleja, San Basilio, Fleet, J. Infante

Manuel, Barriomar, Abenarabi and Catholic Associations Separated, and Widowed housed.

Activity Reading Promotion has always been present in programming that the Department of Social Welfare addressed to associations and Centers for Women, because reading is a good gateway to culture, one of the priority objectives municipal action for achieving gender equality that women's access to culture in the same conditions as men.

Since the beginning of the Centers for Women, was present to encourage reading, occupying a prominent place in their programs, since in many cases this activity was the motivation to go to the literacy of many women who had not had that opportunity.

In other cases, encourage reading, led to other more ambitious projects, such as literary contests of poetry and short story arranged so successfully Centres Women's Emilia Pardo Bazán, (which this year celebrated its 18 th edition ), and the Center for Women in Guadeloupe (15 th edition).

Also many of the theater workshops have had their genesis in these groups of women gathered for the first time around and enjoyed literary group reading it and commenting.
