The Queen is interested in the Centre for intellectually disabled autonomy to be built in Cabezo de Torres (25/06/2008)

Queen Sofia was very interested in the project of the Center for the Promotion of Autonomy of Intellectual Disabilities, which is being built in Cabezo de Torres, and this morning presented the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana in Council meeting of the Royal Board on Disability, held at the Palacio de La Zarzuela.

During his speech, the Minister referred also to other existing projects, such as the range of services for dependents, a pioneer at the European level, and the application of Law Unit in the region, bringing to Murcia from more advanced communities in the development of social policies.

When Joaquin Bascuñana outlined the details of the center located in the hamlet above the capital, Sofia, as Honorary President of the Board, expressed his desire to be promptly informed of the implementation of this project.

On day 13, the Minister laid the foundation stone of these facilities, which is responsible Fundown, and involve the construction of standard housing, with room for two or three people and mediators involved.

This project, based on the initiative "School of Life 'by the Foundation, includes the building of shared housing, to enable coexistence among 36 youth with and without disabilities in a home-like modules of students, equal normalizing perspective of difference, according to the normal patterns of autonomy and independence from any adult.

In addition to shared housing, the proposed infrastructure will enable the formation of nearly fifty young people, who still wish to leave the family home, orienting them to independent living.
