The Mayor encourages Murcia to make small gestures that contribute to combat climate change (05/06/2008)

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, Council Member for the Environment and Urban Quality, Adela Martinez-Cache, and Education, Pilar Megía have delivered this morning awards competition organized on the occasion of World Environment Day.

This twelfth edition has submitted 190 works of schools, 18 for the photo contest, three for the comic book and 17 papers for the professional poster competition.

The winners in the category of posters for schools were:

Category 1:

1st Prize: "Recycle friend", presented by Antonio Lopez Bastidas, a student of CEIP Antonio Delgado Dorrego, Sangonera la Verde (Murcia).

2 nd Prize: "A drop is a lot," presented by GIL ANTONIO EGEA, a student of CEIP Antonio Delgado Dorrego, Sangonera la Verde (Murcia).

3rd Prize: "Care for the Environment", presented by PAULA GOMEZ MATEO student in the CEIP Infanta Cristina, Bacons Bridge (Murcia).

Category 2:

1st Prize: "We care about the environment?" Submitted by CARMEN PEREZ GOMARIZ student in the CEIP Infanta Cristina, Bacons Bridge (Murcia).

2 nd Prize: "Murcia no pollution," presented by Mary INIESTA FLORESTA student in the CEIP Antonio Delgado Dorrego, Sangonera la Verde (Murcia).

3rd Prize: "Murcia clean without pollution," presented by SPIN PILLAR OF MAYA student in the CEIP Antonio Delgado Dorrego, Sangonera la Verde (Murcia).

3 ª Category:

1st Prize: "Murcia green, live," presented by Daniel Ibañez MOLERO, a student of CEIP Fleet (Murcia).

2 nd Prize: "We are the lungs of Murcia", presented by José Angel Ruzafa student CEIP Antonio Delgado Dorrego, Sangonera la Verde (Murcia).

3rd Prize: No title, presented by JULIA GODINEZ ARAGON student in the Colegio Santa Joaquina de Vedruna (Murcia).

4 th Category:

1st Prize: "Nature explosion of color and joy," presented by MARINA ALDEGUER AZNAR student in the IES Juan Carlos I of Murcia.

2 nd Prize: "Do not waste your time you have left and enjoy with Nature" presented by CATI VIDAL IBÁÑEZ and HELLÃN FRANCISCO ABELLÁN with the poster "The environment is on your mind."

5 th Category:

2 nd Prize: "A Clean City", presented by JOSÉ JAMES Ming, a student of IES Llano de Brujas (Murcia).

3rd Prize: "A healthy environment for healthy living," presented by M ª.

ANGELES GARCIA VAZQUEZ, student Education Cooperative Gale Cipriano Nora (Murcia).

In the category of amateur and professional posters for the winner was Francisco Alonso Sánchez and Carlos Ruiz Castellanos received a second prize.

In photography, the awards have gone to Julio César García Rodríguez, with the work titled, "Fresh Agüita" Aldeguer Jorge Peral, with a work entitled, "On the water, life, and Nicholas Noel Atienza, with a work entitled, "Water for All."

In the category of the award-winning comic was Manuel Jose Delgado Riquelme, with the work "Your money or your life."

In addition, the Green School Award went to the CEIP Infanta Cristina, Bacons Bridge, CP Santa Maria de Gracia, Murcia and CEIP Antonio Delgado Dorrego, Sangonera La Verde, Murcia.

A special mention was awarded to The International School Limonar (Holy Angel).

Murcia Mayor stressed the importance of sensitizing the population on respect and care for the environment and encouraged all citizens to carry out cost-saving measures at home to preserve natural resources and make small gestures that contribute to fighting climate change.

The Department of Environment and Urban Quality performs actions throughout the year to teach young and old to preserve the environment and use resources.

To celebrate World Environment Day, the city has installed several tents in the Plaza de Santo Domingo where students and citizens can participate in workshops and learn about the many initiatives carried out in the town to preserve the environment.

'Environment in the Red'.

Computers will be installed so that citizens know the new website of the Department.

Eco-workshop tents.
