Sharks invade the Puertas de Castilla (12/01/2016)

Puertas de Castilla Cultural Center opens the exhibition 'The book Great White Shark' composed of 19 snapshots taken by the underwater photographer Juan Angel Cano Murcia origin intended to reflect a different image of the white shark, tomorrow showing the irresistible beauty of Carcharodon carcharias addition to disclose fragile situation.

The photographs, which can be seen until 12 February, were taken by the photographer during a scientific expedition in the Mexican Guadalupe Island, an area declared a Biosphere Reserve in 2005 and is considered one of the natural reserves of the white shark.

The work shown in the sample, the result of this expedition is intended to reflect a different image of white, very necessary for the ecological balance of the Pacific and also seeks to eliminate label bloodthirsty man-eating sharks.

However, the leitmotif of the exhibition goes further, and inspired by the figure of the scientist-artist Jean Painlevé, to deepen in the symbiosis between art and science.

In short, look for that artistic dimension in the same photographs that serve to advance scientific investigation in this case, on a species, the white shark, which the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources in 1990 included Red List as insufficiently known and since 1996 in the list of vulnerable species.

The expert in underwater photography, Murcia Juan Angel Cano began diving at the hands of his father at age 12.
