160 elementary students held a sitting on protection against violence in the family (20/11/2015)

The event, developed within the Week of the Rights of the Child, has been attended by the Mayor and other members of the Corporation, including those responsible for Social Rights and Education, University Relations and Heritage

The Mayor, José Ballesta, today has given the place it deserves to chair the plenary to students in fifth and sixth year of primary education from four schools in the municipality, have spoken and have become the main protagonists of the act held in the city.

This is the traditional children's Parliament that is organized every year in the Memorial Week on the Rights of the Child, coordinated by the Department of Education, University Relations and Heritage and Social Rights.

160 students have occupied the chairs regularly used the mayor and council members to make a public statement on the implementation of these rights.

Specifically, they participated in plenary 48 students and 6 B 6 A CEIP María Maroto, Murcia, with Jesus Pinilla Group;

20 students from 6th CEIP Francisco Giner, James the Greater, with Juan Antonio Marin as a spokesperson;

45 5th 5th A and B CEIP Isabel Bellvis, Corvera, with Mokhtari Othman Group;

6 A and 47 B of the CIS and 6th College, Murcia, Patricia Gomez as spokesman.

After interventions from the presidency by four children representing their peers, other students have participated raising statements and claims to promote the welfare of children in general, and in particular Murcia.

Then he started Question Time children and the Mayor has been giving the floor to the councilors present to be the ones who reply to the questions, which have dealt with many subjects, from the Education Act to studies necessary for mayor or the situation of children who need help.

Besides the mayor and those responsible for organizing the activity areas, they attended the plenary mayors of all local groups.

Classwork

Before you call this morning at City Hall, the students have previously worked in class, according to the guidelines of their teachers on the rights recognized by the UN.

In their discussion, participants made the claims that have estimated appropriate, with special emphasis on the right to be specially protected, in particular in the family, focusing on the preventive aspect against all forms of violence, abuse or neglect and the right childhood care and love in order to ensure proper psychological, physical and social development, regardless of individual and cultural differences.

All children, by virtue of being, are entitled to protection from ill treatment and abuse, and require bonding, stable rules, risk protection, education and play.

With these initiatives, we intend to take advantage of the commemoration of the International Day of Children's Rights to reflect on the problems of children, in our society anywhere in the world.

The main objective is to foster greater interest of the citizens and children themselves in education, values ​​education and protection of the rights of children.

In addition to the plenary session this morning, the Week of the Rights of the Child includes a set of educational and cultural activities that are taking place since Monday and will conclude on Sunday with a big party in the Garden Silk all morning .

Until then, they have developed numerous activities proposed by the Department of Social Rights in different neighborhoods and districts of the municipality, with the collaboration of 41 associations and organizations working with and for Children in Murcia.
