Murcia City Council launched the "Together" program (18/11/2015)

Workshop buy healthy food, physical activity for pregnant women and mothers with infants, yoga and a technical conference are some of the activities presented tomorrow and will be launched in December

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Health and Sports who runs Felipe Coello, presents the launch of the European project 'Together: Healthy for you, healthy for the two', which aims to promote healthy lifestyles and diets pregnant and nursing mothers, especially disadvantaged and vulnerable groups women.

'Together' held for 10 months community work with women's groups, involving them in real action, like feeding workshops to promote healthier life styles, and enabling them to take greater responsibility in terms of their health and lifestyles to try to achieve sustainable change.

The health minister said that "the power during the preconception period, pregnancy and in the first 1000 days of life, is one of the factors that influence the health of the unborn child and is fundamental in the physical development and intellectual child ".

Odense and Kolding (Denmark), Prague (Czech Republic) and Varna (Bulgaria).

The project has a clear Community approach that aims to reach women where they live, work, buy or move.

This means the establishment of a networking with health centers, health workers (doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, nutritionists, etc.), social services centers and their workers, where to buy food, sports centers, restaurants, schools, workplaces, etc.

In this day of presentation of the program, it has had the intense collaboration of the Association of Midwives, University of Murcia, health workers of different health centers, Mercamurcia and workers of the third sector.
