The Mayor, José Ballesta, lamented the death of Francisco Alarcon Liza, "famous sculptor and carver of our Easter without whose work is impossible to understand the feeling and passion that emanate from the steps in procession through the streets of the city and the districts ".
Born in 1929 into a family of estate vegetable garden soon became a renowned restaurateur and Nativity scenes.
Author of the generation of Murcia famous artists like Juan Gonzalez Moreno, Luis Garay and Jose Sanchez Lozano, his work belongs to the Baroque school of Salzillo.
Very linked to religious sculpture, and a fruitful artistic production with more than 135 works, Francisco Liza always maintained a close relationship with Murcia brotherhoods, especially Hope, most of whose steps out of his workshop.
Liza, known to his countrymen as "the sculptor of Guadalupe", shall be appointed by the City Son of the City.
