The Social Council of the UMU conduct a study on entrepreneurial intention of his students (22/01/2015)

The study was commissioned by the Chair of Entrepreneurship by the rigor of their research and experience

The Social Council of the University of Murcia announced today that it will conduct a study to determine the direction and intention of the students of the University of Murcia toward entrepreneurship and business creation, and to what extent they have considered the knowledge and skills that are required for the implementation of entrepreneurship.

In announcing the completion of this study have been present Javier Ruano, President of the Board of the UMU, and those responsible for the Chair of Entrepreneurship, also of the UMU, Antonio Aragon and Samuel Baixauli, whom the Social Council instructed achieve the same by their extensive experience and rigor in conducting research on entrepreneurship.

Javier Ruano said that "this research will be very important because entrepreneurship and the creation of new business initiatives are essential to the prosperity of an economy."

He also said that "entrepreneurial activities emanating from the university within have a strong revitalizing effect on the economy, achieving higher levels of employment and innovation, because of the added value they can bring college students, because they are people with deep knowledge and specialized. Therefore, promote entrepreneurship among students of the University of Murcia is critical to the region. "

The Chairman of the Social Board also noted that the study of entrepreneurship is key to know the state of affairs in which entrepreneurship among students in the UMU is, since "without the prior radiography is not possible to take effective measures allowing enhance it. "

Meanwhile, Antonio Aragon, responsible for the Chair of Entrepreneurs of the UMU, said the study will be conducted with the highest scientific rigor, on the theory of planned action and Azjen Schifter (1985).

He also noted that "entrepreneurial intention of students will analyze deepening the explanatory factors that lead them to the decision to undertake, which are the entrepreneurship, social pressure to undertake and the degree of perceived control, ie in what extent they feel capacities and skills to start their own business ".

The researcher Samuel Baixauli noted that "the information for the study was collected through a self-administered to be passed to a representative sample of students questionnaire for each of the types of studies and branches of knowledge of the University of Murcia" .

Finally, Javier Ruano reported that this study, collected in the action plan of the Social Council, will be completed by the end of June, at which will be presented publicly.
